Introductory Class

Picture
Our Introductory class is your first step before taking any other Reformer classes. This class is for those who have never taken a Reformer class before. It will introduce you to the Pilates principles, the reformer exercises and get you used to how the Reformer works. No Pilates experience necessary.
4 Introductory classes are needed before progressing to Level 1.

Level 1
Class

Picture
This is a faster paced class with more detailed guidance. Gain a clear understanding of the basics, develop good technique (you gain a whole lot more from your workout with correct technique) and build from there. Extra attention is given to body positioning, movement and transitions, all while guiding you through a challenging workout! You will need to do a certain amount of
Level 1 classes before you and your instructor can decide if you are ready to progress into Level 2 classes.

Level 2
Intermediate Class

Picture
This class is for those who have completed Level 1 for at least 6 months - a motivating and uplifting class that will systematically challenge the body and mind. This moderate to fast paced class will introduce you to the more intermediate exercises and use of the apparatus. Focused on strength, in addition to balance, stability and flexibility, this class creates dynamic challenges to elevate your practice, while working to target and tone every muscle in the body.

Level 3
Advanced Class

Picture
Our most advanced class level is for those with plenty of experience. It challenges the body-mind connection on every level and is perfect for those who have mastered form and alignment. These advanced Pilates movements will push you to work your body to the max. Expect to sweat in this class! Instructor approval required to attend this class. Not recommended for those with physical limitations.

1:1 Private Class

Picture
This is a tailored workout for your individual needs designed to increase strength, tone, flexibility, balance and co-ordination. At Flexelle, we are sticklers for good technique so these one-to-one sessions ensure you get 100% out of every movement and a workout that will help you reach your specific goals. Ideal for anyone recovering from injury, rehabilitation or limited mobility; who wants to add to their training and boost confidence; who just prefers the personal attention of private sessions.

The 6 Main Principles of Pilates

Concentration
To be in the moment, focusing purely on the instructions and the performance of the exercises. To block out all external thoughts is an active form of mindfulness.

Breath
Pilates breath is breathing into the ribcage whilst engaging the deep abdominals. This method of breathing is called lateral thoracic breathing.

Centering
Every exercise in Pilates is controlled by a core engagement, working the deep stabilising muscles that support the spine.

Precision
Pilates exercises are performed with precision and quality of movement. Every exercise should be performed exactly according to the instructions to gain the most benefit and to improve body awareness.

Flowing movement
Movements are seamless and flowing, with the use of the breath resulting in a balanced and functional training programme.

Control
The Pilates movements are executed slowly and precisely, focusing on quality rather than quantity.
To gain the control of a movement you must remain focused and become body aware, thus bringing together many of the Pilates principles at once.
